PALESTINE CAMPAIGN.

LECTURE TO MOUNTED RIFLES. A pleasant and well attended social evening was held under the auspicies of the Mann watu Mounted Rifles Social Club in conjunction with the Legion of Frontiersmen, in the Princess Street Drill Hall, when Staff-Sergeant-Major A. Holmes, N.Z.P.S., delivered an illustrated lecture on the “Sinai-Pales-tine Campaign.” On an earlier occasion S.S.M. Holmes had dealt with the crossing of the Sinai Desert, and he carried his story further by giving a graphic description of tlio first, second and final attack on the Gaza-Beerslieba line. At the conclusion of a highly interesting and instructive talk, Cajitain 13. A. Norman, of the Mounted Rifles, extended the speaker a vote of appreciation and also thanked those l who had been associated in the preliminary work in connection with the function.

Supper was served by the Social Club committee and Captain R. Allen, of the Legion of Frontiersmen, took the opportunity to mention that it was hoped to hold evenings of a similar nature, adding that the legion were desirous of assisting the Territorials in every way jiossible.
