SOCIAL ACTIVITIES. The members of the ping pong team of the R.S.A. received a visit from the Nomads team on Monday evening when, after a most enjoyable game, the honours went to the home side by 24 games to 12. Robertson, the one-time Manawatu champion, displayed a return to form by winning all his matches for the visitors, Messrs Voss, Buchanan and McKegg losing their only game to him. Johnson beat Beattie 31- —6, Williams 31—20, Seifert 31—5, Cox 31—26, lost to Kells 22—31, to Robertson 22—31; A. J. Morgan boat Beattie 31—19, Seifert 31—21, lost to Kells 20—31, to Robertson 14 —31, to Williams 11—31, to Cox 22—31; N. G. Brown beat Kells 31 —28, Beattie 31 —10, Williams 31— 28, lost to Robertson 22—31, to Seifert 27—31, to Cox 30—32. Supper was partaken of at the conclusion of the series and the opportunity was taken by Mr Voss to present Mr H. Walkley, the club caretaker, with a pipe as an expression of the players’ appreciation of the attention and service rendered to the them during the season’s activities. CLUB COMPETITIONS.

The billiard and card tourneys, which have been a feature of the social committee's activities in the club during the winter, are still proceeding. A billiard tourney, played on the basis of a handicap competition, each game being of 10 minutes’ duration, resulted in favour of Mr G. Procter, with Messrs L. Carter and E. F. Trigg next in order. Mr Procter also returned the highest scratch score for the evening, 76. In a snooker competition under similar conditions, Mr F. Clark gained first award with Messrs G. Procter and N. Hughes attending him in the minor places. .The highest scratch score went to L. Carter, who compiled 51 in one of his games. On Friday last 42 members participated in the regular euchre tourney and' the close of ail interesting bight’s play found Mr L. Welch the winner with Messrs 11. A. Ford and E. F. Bee second and third respectively. It is the intention of the club to return the visit from the Woodville R.S.A. during the coming week when matches in billiards, snooker, ping pong and eliess will bo played.
