STEPS IN BENGAL,
CALCUTTA, Sept. 16. As a requel to the murder in Midnapore (Bengal), the Government has decided on the following measures: 1 An increase in the number of tlie armed police force in Midnapore town at the expense of the inhabitants for one year. , 2. A further increase in the town s intelligence staff. 3 To apply to the Midnapore district the rule's in force in Chittagong, enabling the authorities to control the movements of suspects, to regulate traffic, and to impose a curfew if re--1 introduction of identity cards, as in Chittagong, is being considered.
