GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP.

GIESEN ELIMINATED.

The second round of the Tedding Golf Club’s senior championship series on Saturday afternoon saw L. M. Giesen, title holder for the last three years, eliminated on the 19tli green by V. J. Stitchbury, a plgyer who has also held the club championship in pastyears. At the tenth hole Giesen was leading 1 up after a rather patchy half round by both players. Better play was seen in the home run, but at the 16th green Giesen was still holding the lead of one. The 17th, however, was lost to Stitchbury who never gave' up his efforts, while a half at the 18th found them all square. At the 19th Stitchbury got close to the pin with a good three, Giesen being left a long and difficult putt to halve the hole for four. Giesen played a great shot, but missed, Stitchbury taking the hole and the game. ' Results in the championship games to date are as follow : .Senior. —First round: H. S. Farquharson beat \V. Seifert. A club medal match was decided on Saturday afternoon, the seniors and juniors playing without division. A. C. MATCH AGAINST MARTON. Over the week-end the Marton Golf Club paid a return visit to the Feilding club, the visitors taking the singles by 14 games to 10 while the foursomes match was halved. PARTY TO BRIDE-ELECT. Mr and Mrs A. W. Zuppieich, of Feilding, gave a party to Miss Margaret McConnon, whose marriage to Mr W. Wyber, of Palmerston North, takes place this month. Modern and oldtime dancing made up a merry evening, competitions resulting in Miss G. Cummings and Mr A. Alsop winning the spotlight waltz and Miss P. McConnon and Mr S. Hocken the Monte Carlo. The statue dance was won by Miss G. Jones and Mr A. Alsop. The guest received many gifts of a usefull nature, Mr Wyber thanking all present on behalf of Miss McConnon for their liberality. Mi-s Zuppieich received her guests wearing a black celanese satin with red velvet cape. Miss McConnon’s pretty frock was of red and white printed silk. Mrs W. McConnon chose a Mack frock with touches of green, and Mrs W. Millar (Palmerston North) wore black georgette.

NOTES. Messrs McMurtrie and Merrington, Wanganui Education Board inspectors, are paying their annual visit to Manchester Street School this week.
