DRAMA LEAGUE FESTIVAL.

HASTINGS AUTHOR’S SUCCESS. Per Press Association. HASTINGS, Sept. 16. First place in the Hawke’s Bay Drama League festival, in which thirteen plays were presented, and which ended last evening, was awarded to the Hastings Comedy Players for their performance of “Knight to Move,” which was written by Mr H. Russell Moss, of Hastings, wlio took the male lead in his own play. The identity of the author was unknown till after the results of the judging by Mr Clement May, of AVcllington, lrad been announced. Mr May, when lie heard who the author was, expressed himself as being doubly pleased at tlie result of his judging. He said that if New Zealand authors could produce such work there need be nothing to fear for the welfare of the theatre in this country. Speaking of the winning team’s performance, Mr May described it as having set a standard which was at times quite equal to the professional average.
