THE FLANDERS POPPIES.

BENEFIT FROM ' SALES.

(British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Sept. 15. The sum of £482,705 was raised by the sale of Flanders poppies last Armistice Day in the United Kingdom and many countries overseas. An additional £62,933 was subscribed in Scotland, where the appeal is separately organised. The money thus raised will go to finance the benevolent work of the British Legion in relieving distress among ex-service men and their dependants. The totals were less than in tlie preceding year, but remarkable in view of the economic depression. On the last 12 Armistice Days, more than £12,000,000 has been raised hv the sale of poppies, all of which were made by 360 disabled ex-service men in a special factory.
