LOXTON.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) FOXTON, Sept. 12. At the meeting of the Foxton Borough ' Council on Monday evening, Cr Barron said ho had been informed that sheep worrvng bad been going on on properties bounding the borough. Other councillors mentioned the reports and the matter was referred to the local registrar of dogs. Cr Christie drew attention to the corner leading from Purcell Street to Patrick Street at the south end of the borough shoulder placed around the corner. Action was deferred pending an. inspection and urged the immediate removal of the by the district engineer of the. Public Works Department. „ Tim bi-monthly meeting of the I‘oxton Plunket Society was presided over by Mrs W. Trueman. Tho society has been advised by the MacCarthy Trustees of tlio gift of £4O towards their general expenses. Gratitude was expressed for such generosity. . The monthly social afternoon of the Presbyterian Ladies’ Guild was hold at the residence of Mrs Evcrton, the hostesses being Mesdames Evcrton and Nocklcs,. and Mrs Perrcau presiding. A competition was won by Mrs Thomson. Afternoon tea was dispensed by the hostesses. An outdoor putting competition was won by Miss M. Sutherland. A vote of thanks to the hostesses was acceded to most heartily.
