THE WHEAT GLUT.
FRENCH URGE RESTRICTION
Received September 11, 12.15 p.m. PARIS, Sept. 10. Owing to the wheat glut, M. Queuille, Minister of Agriculture, urged restricted production, but guaranteed maintenance of the minimum prices. The total available wheat, including last year’s surplus, is 394,000,000 bushels. It is curious that, though the population is now 41,000,000 as compared with 38,000,000 in 1913, the consumption of wheat has decreased from '312,000,000 to 286,000,000 bushels.
