WINOOIvA AND EQUIPOISE. NAYLOR’S REPLY. SEATTLE, Sept. 9. The Seattle . Post-Intelligencer to-mor-row will print a copyrighted article by Mr Rufus Naylor replying to the contentions if Mr C. B. Whitney and other Eastern horsemen in connection with the proposed Winooka-Equipoise race for 10,000 dollars. Mr Naylor writes: , “The disparaging remarks concerning Winooka’s eligibility to'match with Equipoise are against racing facts. Winooka is recognised as the fastest sprinter produced in Australia and New Zealand. This is backed by the season’s record, and wins in Sydney and Melbourne.’’ He issues a formal challenge to Equipoise’s owner for a six-furlong race late in October, either in New York or in Maryland. Other members of the entourage also take exception to Whitney’s remarks, and intimate that the horse’s backers are prepared to wager heavily against Equipoise. They suggest a winner-take-all match. It is said that Mr Naylor has been authorised by Messrs Macdonald and Matthews to wager 10,000 dollars that Winooka will defeat” Equipoise at seven furlongs. Mr Poison (the trainer) to-day stated that the horse was reaching top form. He predicted he would break the world’s six furlongs record in the match against Onrush on September 16. TEA TRADER’S DEBUT.

SEATTLE, Sept. 9. Tea Trader makes his Pacific north-west debut here on Sunday in a five-furlong handicap. Three others are entered, including Bonny Grafton, who defeated lUlow Ffght on Friday.
