8.8. C. IN TROUBLE.

POLITICAL BROADCASTS. Received September 11, 1.40 p.m. LONDON, Sept. 10. Mr Lloyd George, Mr Winston Churchill and Mr Neville Chamberlain are jointly protesting to Mr Whiteley, the chairman of the British Broadcasting Corporation’s governing board, against their omission from the political broadcasts beginning on October 12. They recalled Sir Kingsley Wood’s promise that minorities would be included in the programme and pointed out that they were the three senior Privy Councillors in the House of Commons.

Mr Whiteley pleaded that limitation of space confined the present series to the Ministerial and Opposition speakers, but without prejudice to the future expression of independent views. The protesting members retorted that a precedent was undoubtedly established, enforcing the exclusion of all not nominated by the party leaders.
