HOPEFULNESS INCREASING.
The reality of the revival in international trade becomes more marked daily. Confidence is rapidly returning in all markets and reports from our correspondents in Europe, in the U.S.A., Australia and even South America, reflect a change over from the apathy which prevailed at the beginning of the year to a spirit of solid hopefulness. Buying is not yet on a large scale, but firm enquiries are increasing in volume, and producing a growing proportion of orders, while enterprise, in tlie shape of public works construction schemes and new industrial and mercantile ventures, is nearly everywhere in evidence. The tide of world trade, in brief, has not only turned, but is beginning to flow with increasing vigour.—Tlie British Export Gazette.
