BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEET. The usual monthly meeting of tire A’.AI.C.A. Board of Directors was held on Friday, when there were present: Alessrs J. A. Grant (chairman), T. R. Hodder, J. Selwyn, A. Hopwood, L. Laurenson, AA r . H. Brown, Rev. C. S. Matthews, Messrs J. C. Young, E. AA’. Child, A. Clark. 11. C. Donald and G. C. Petersen. Apologies were received from Alessrs K. G. Chanilierlain, J. H. Dick, A. D. Campbell and Jas. AA’allace.

The general secretary’s report stated , that the activities continue to make tlie building a rendezvous lor a great number of men and boys who take part in the gymnasium classes, social I gatherings, group meetings and committee work, a fine spirit of fellowship being manifest throughout the I whole of these activities. The report :on membership showed a total of 427 ' members taking part in organised classes, and it is anticipated that the association will show an increase in membership over the previous year. It was reported that the Optimist Club had won tlie gavel for competition between kindred clubs of the Dominion for the best average attendance over tire past year. It was also shown that the young men of the club were desirous of rendering some service to those in need. Contributions of bread had been sent to tlie Central Relief Depot, lewt. of potatoes had been sent to the AVillard Home, All Saints’ Home and the Central Relief Depot, while a family in need had received two bags of coal and one of wood. The report added that Air G. C. Petersen had been elected president of tlie Debating Club, with Air E. Opie chairman. The executive committee of the club would he meeting at an early date, when a full programme of activities would lie decided upon. The Tenikoit Club, playing on Saturday afternoons, had onened its season last Saturday with 21 members present. A strong committee had Ireen elected and a successful season was assured. It was reported that the annual observance of Alother's Dav wou’d he held on the 14th inst., and would take the form of a mass meeting for men and hoys in the gymnasium in the afternoon. Inter-liouse basketlia'l had eonmiencj ed. fourteen teams being entered, re- | presenting eiglrt business firms in tlie city. The games played on AVednesdav evenings attract a large number of interested spectators. The general secretary’s report also stated that Airs B. F. Mitchell had been appointed president of tin* A'.AI.C.A. Ladies’ Auxiliary for the ensuing year. It was anticipated that the auxiliary would, as in the nnst, render great assistance to the Y.ALC.A. in its work for young men and boys. Air L. Cross, l>oys’ work director, reported the hoys’ membership to be 101 at the opening of classes, with * lieu- members continually joining up. Under the director the Hi Y Club was taken to an Easter camp at Polrangma, where four days of recreation and health-giving sport were thoroughly enjoyed. Games, swimming and tramping were indulged in, while each day was brought to a close with Bible sttulv and prayer. The employed hoys’ class was stronger than in past years, and a programme of inoiefit to all, botlr spiritually and physically, had been arranged. The director had interviewed the employers of tlrese hoys with a view to running a “Boss and Bov” night in AL’v. It was noted with pleasure that the employers were keenly interested in the work, and realised what a benefit this class is to the employed boy. Programmes on a competitive basis bad been arranged for tlie primary, secondary and emp’oyed boys’ classes, and were maintaining a keen interest in these classes. Tt was decided that the annual Bed Triang’e Day appeal of the A .AI.C.A. would he held on Saturday. July 1. A strong committee was formed to organise this event.
