FLYING TEN MILLION MILES
ANOTHER AERIAL LANDMARK. THE GROWTH OF AIR-BORNE LOADS. Another milestone has been reached in British air transport. The air-lin-ers of Imperial Airways have, reckoning from the company’s inception in 1924, now flown a distance of 10,000,000 miles. “Actually, with our machines flying nearly 6000 miles a day, as is the case at present, we have not onlv reached, but already passed, this landmark of progress,” explained an official. “There are,” he added, “for this period during which we have been reaching 10,000.000 miles, other figures which may be of interest. We have, for example, carried just on 250.000 passengers, to say nothing of 5600 tons of mails and freight, while the tale of progress is also told by the fact that, whereas in 1924-25 our machines were only flying about 800,000 miles a year, they are at the present time flying just on 2,000.000 miles a year.
