FATHER ACCIDENTALLY SHOT.
Per Press Association. GISBORNE, May 7. A occurred in the AVaimata Valley this afternoon, when Alexander Lyons Warrington, blacksmith, residing at Waerengaahika, was accidentally shot by his 17-year-old son, dying shortly afterward. . Father and son were after pheasants, working up a liver, the father being between thirty and forty ynrds from the son. One pheasant rose, and flew in the direction of the father.
The son fired, and the father called out that he was shot. The son rushed to the spot and found that his father had received the charge in his face and chest. He died within five minutes. BOY KILLED IN MILL. Per Press Association. TAUM ARUNUI, May 7. The ten-year-old son of Mr Edward Bradley, night watchman at Ellis and Burnand’s timber mill at Manunui, met with a fatal accident while taking his father’s tea to him in the works. The boy was apparently passing the engine when his clothing was caught in a shaft which was rapidly revolving, turning him round with considerable iorce and causing fatal injuries to his head.
WALLACETOWN FATALITY. Per Press Association. , INVERCARGILL, May 7. The body of the third victim of the Wallacetown drowning, Miss Jean Somerville, was found this afternoon several miles below the bridge where the car crashed. MAN FOUND DEAD. \ Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, May 7. A married man, William . Harvey, aged 65, was found by his wife lying dead in the garden at the back of his house, Anderson’s Bay, this afternoon. Deceased had been' unemployed for some time. HUTT RIVER DROWNING. WELLINGTON, May 8. While playing on the pipe bridge near the mouth of the Hutt River yesterday afternoon a small boy, Ronald Little, fell into the water and was drowned. An unsuccessful search was made for his body by the police last night. The drowning occurred at about 4 p.m. According to the small boy’s two playmates, who had been on the bridge with him, he struggled in the river current for some distance before disappearing beneath the surface. A hurried search for the body was immediately begun, but at a late hour last night it had not been found. UNKNOW T N MAN KILLED. AUCKLAND, May 7. A fatal accident occurred to-day on the Hurstmere Road, near Takapuna. At about 6 o’clock this evening a young man was found lying unconscious on the road, suffering from severe head injuries. He was taken to the home near by of Mr E. C. Cuttqn, S.M., but died before he could receive medical attention.
It is believed he was struck by i motor car. The young man has not yet been identified. FATALITY IN THE WAIRARAPA. Per Press Association. MASTERTON, May 7. A. fatality occurred on the main Carterton-Masterton road on Saturday evening, when a single man, Mr Alexander Burr, aged 33, of Masterton, was killed when attempting to stop a passing car to get a lift into Masterton. The motor cvcle on which deceased was a pillion passenger had broken down and the car which struck _ deceased was driven by Mr Victor Hibbden, of Masterton.
