BETTER PRICES FOR FAT EWES

There was a fairly heavy yarding of fat sheep at the Feildmg sale today, prices for ewes being rather better than was expected. Other lines were' not so keenly sought, but nevertheless sold well. Dairy stock were unchanged in values. At the start of the sale Mr J. G. Eliott, auctioneer for the New Zealand Farmers’ Distributing Company, Ltd., announced that the company, had made arrangements to take over Messrs Levin and Coy’s, interest in the yards and would in future be conducting weekly sales. Prices up to 1 p.m. were as follow: Sheep.—Fat lambs: 11s Id, 11s 6d, 12s 6d to 13s; fat ewes, ss, 6s 3d to 7s 3d; fat wethers, 9s 9d, 10s to 11s 8d; fat b.f. 2-tooths, 11s to 12s 9d._ . Dairy stock. —Heifer and calf, £5; dairy cows, £1 10s. £3 15s to £6 ss; springing cows. £4 17s 6d; heifers r.w.b., £2 10s, £3 2s 6d to £4 10s.
