RAILWAY REVENUE.

IMPROVEMENT IN NET RETURN. WELLINGTON, Feb. 10. The net railway revenue in New Zealand for three quarters of the current financial years is £457,309, or £36,606 better than the figure for the corresponding 1931-32 period. The improvement was not obtained through an increase in gross revenue, which actualy declined, but through savings in expenditure which exceeded the fall in the total revenue.

The gross revenue for the three quarters from April 1, 1932, to January 7, 1933, was £4,404,239, or £368367 less than the figure for April 1, 1931, to January 2, 1932. The expenditure for the past three quarters was £3,946,930, or £404,973 below the expenditure in the 1931-32 period.
