The reply of the Australian Cricket Board of Control to the Marylebone Cricket Club that was cabled to London was released late last night. It reads as follows: “We do not regard the sportsmanship of your team as being questioned. Our position was fully considered at recent meetings in Sydney, and as indicated in our cablegram of January 30 it is the particular class of bowling referred to therein which we considered as not in the best interests of cricket, and in this view we are supported by many eminent English cricketers. We join you heartily in- hoping that the remaining Tests will be played with the traditional good feeling.”

In the course of it 3 cablegram to the Marylebone Club tho Australian Board of Control stated: “We unanimously regard bodylino bowling us adopted in some of the games of the present tour as being opposed to the spirit of cricket and dangerous to tho players. Wo are deeply concerned that the ideals of the game shall be protected, and have therefore appointed a committee to report on the action necessary to eliminate such bowling from all cricket in Australia as from the beginning of thp 1953-34 season. We will forward a copy of tho committee’s recommendations for your consideration, and it is hoped cooperation as to their application in all cricket. Wo do not consider it necessary to cancel the remainder of the programme.”
