STARR-BOWKETT BUILDING SOCIETY.

Ballots of free of interest loans were held last evening by tho Starr-Bowkett Building Society, the following being successful:—No. 3 group, Airs M. Webb, ‘£soo; No. 4 group, Miss I. 11. Hunter, £2OO, and Mrs D. Heath, £500; No. 5 group, Mr W. H. Wood, £500; i\o. 6 group, Air D. A. Scott, £SOO. Total, £220. Alessrs D. Alorrison and J. B. Gerrand acted as scrutineers. At tho monthly meeting of the directors held at the conclusion of the ballots, Air AI. A. Eliott (chairman) presided. Also present were Alessrs J. B. Gerrand, F. Jackson, D. Alorrison, S. W. Rapley, H. F. Wilson and S. J. Watson. The sum of £SOO obtained by ballot was authorised for deposit in No. 3 group. The question of terminating the ballots in this group was considered and a report will be submitted at next meeting with a view to facilitating the remaining ballots and closing tho group. Loans in No. 4 group for £SOO were approved, and £2OO placed on deposit. Two loans for £SOO each in No. 6 group were reported as ready for progress payments; £7OO was approved for the erection of a new house in No. 7 group; £SOO was taken up by tender at £2O per cent, in No. .8 group, and throe loans for £7OO, £SOO and £2OO were approved subject to valuation in No. 9 group. A loan lor £7CO was reported as completed ,n No. 10 group and tho amount passed for payment.
