CRICKET.
TOWN v. COUNTRY. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Dec. 14. The annua* Town v. Country cricket match commenced at the Basin Reserve to-day in fine weather. The ground and wicket are in good order. Two changes were made in the country team, Hayward (Rangitikei) and Freeman (Nelson) replacing McGirr and O’Brien. Country won the toss and are batting. At lunch the Country score was 122 for two wickets. Cameron batted soundly with Massey, though he had a life behind the wickets when he snicked one, the ball going to the boundary. He reached 50 with a lofty drive which bounded from the playing area into the street. The hundred came up in 95 minutes. Cameron was out five minutes later skying a ball over point and Crook running back to take the catch.
