FEILDING.

WOMEN'S DIVISION. Mrs J. Williamson presided at the usual monthly meeting of the Feilding branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union there being a good attendance. It was reported that two housekeepers and one professional nurse had l>eeu employed during the month. Two applications from needy families were received and help promised. A number of used toys wero brought in by members to be distributed for Christmas amongst country children. The usual donation was voted toward the District Nurse Christmas Cheer Fund. Final arrangements were made for the garden party to be held at Mrs H. Hoc-ken's residence, "Grassmore," Colyton, in aid of community chest and branch funds. There will be a bring and buy stall, also sweets, ice cream, soft drinks stall, games, tennis, Folk dancing. Pipe band in attendance and Highland dancing, afternoon tea, etc. The public is cordially invited. A show catering sub-committee was set up, consisting of the existing committee

with power to add. The Cheltenham Rifle Club held n shoot for the Dormer Cup over the 500 and 600 yards ranges on Saturday, the following being the scores; R. Taylor 95, H. Buchanan 94, V. Barrow 92, R. E. Stewart 92. .1. H. Williamson 90. J. C. Williamson 89, C. Sandbrook 87, F. Mills 77. The third shoot for club trophies will take place on Saturday next over ranges 300, 500 and 600 yards. NOTES. While cycling in the town on a recent dav, Mr W. Wilkinson, of Foilding, and another cyclist collided, Mr Wilkinson being thrown to the ground. He sustained a fractured collarbone, but his many friends will be pleased to learn that he is now making satisfactory progress. At the annual prize-giving and breaking up ceremony of the Feilding Agricultural High School the chief speaker will be Mr ]). M. Rae, principal of the Teachers' Training College, Auckland. The wool clip in the Feilding district this year is reported to bo exceptionally heavy and of splendid quality. One farmer with an average flock states that his adult sheep are averaging 10 lb clips of wool. Wheat growing has been undertaken to a large extent this season in the Feilding district and a high yield is' confidently expected as the result of the beneficial season. The acreage of j wheat locally is large enough to give j rise to the report that it will not be necessary to make South Island impor-1 tations after the harvest. PERSONAL. Miss L.
