CRICKET FIXTURES.

The Manawatu Cricket Association’s championship competitions will begin on Saturday afternoon at 1.45 p.m. During the period of summer time, stumps will be drawn at 6.30 o'clock, the signal to cease play being the ringing of a bell. An over in progress is to be completed. Ten minutes will be allowed for the nfternoon tea adjournment, and captains of teams are to be asked to see that this time is not exceeded. At a meeting of the Fixtures Committee the following draw was made for the opening day: Senior.—Old Boys (m.) v. Palmerston, No. 1 wicket; High School (in.; v. United, No. 2 wicket. Junior. —Kia Toa (m.) v. Palmerston, No. 3, Sportsground; Old Boys (in.) v. High School, No. 4 ; Sportsground; Y.M.C.A. (m.) v. City Council, No. 1, Terrace End. Third grade.—Albion (m.) v. Phoenix No. 5, Sportsground; Kia Ora (in.) v. Y.M.C.A., No. 2, Terrace End; Gordon, a' bye. At the Sportsground, the No. 3 wicket is on the outer area, nearest the main gate; No. 4 is furthest from the gates; and No. 5 is tho wicket near the swings.
