GRANITES GOLDFIELD.
STATEMENT BY MINISTER. NO PAYABLE DISCOVERY REPORTED. Received October 12, 10.5 a.m. CANBERRA, Oct. 12. No authenticated report that payable gold has been discovered at the Granites goldfield has been received by the Department of the Interior, said the Minister, Mr A. Parkhill. This was strange, he pointed out, as the Northern Territory mining law provides the penalty of forfeiture of all ground held by any persons fading to report the discovery of payable gold.
A previous message stated that reports indicated that there would, bo a big- rush to the Granites goldfield in tho Northern Territory before the wet season closes tho tracks.
