ALLIANCE STORY DISCOUNTED. Received October 11, 8.45 a.m. LONDON, Oct. 10. Whitehall knows nothing of the Sunday Times story that France lias rejected Japan’s overture for an alliance. It is pointed out that, apart from the impossibility of its acceptance when Japan’s Manchurian policy is the subject of the League’s review, France could scarcely afford to prejudice her American and other friendships.
