TRIPS TO THE MOON.
AVhat Dr. Johannes Winkler calls the “preliminary leap on the voyage to the moon” will he taken soon. He will fire a rocket into spaoe into the vicinity of Pillau, on the Frischenehrung, a narrow isthmus on the eastern border of the Danzig Bight. Liquid air will propel the rocket, which is 6ft Gin. long. It is expected to achieve a record altitude, and penetrate the_ stratosphere. being capable of rising six miles in lmin. 40sec. Dr. Winkler says that this is the forerunner of larger rockets, capable of carrying a man to the moon in four days. He contends that, by means of the rocket, the moon will be as easily attainable as the' United States.
