At the wool sales 10,459 bales were offered, including 5634 from New Zealand, and about 7555 were sold. There was good home and Continental competition. The withdrawals were less frequent. The rates were unchanged. New Zealand realisations: —Greasy lialfbred, top prices 13d, average 12d; scoureds, Mt. John, top price 19Jd, average 19d. PRICE OF TOPS. COMMENT FROM YORKSHIRE. The Yorkshire Post, commenting on the fact that wool is above the price obtainable for tops, and the latter are relatively dearer than the corresponding yarns, says:—“Until some solution is found, business will be extremely. difficult. The problem of securing a basis of adjustment is very real. It is a difficult matter to secure the recently advanced prices for tops, and they are unlikely to become easier until the users generally show more confidence than at present in the ability of wool to retain the higher level recently established.”
