SIR ERIC DRUMMOND
SECRETARY-GENERAL OF LEAGUE RESIGNATION FROM OFFICE. DISTINGUISHED CAREER. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (British Official Wireless.) Received September 28, 10.25 a.m. RUGBY, Sept. 27. The Council of the Leaguo of Nations accepted the resignation of Sir Eric Drummond, the, Secretary-General, and will elect his successor in November.
Sir Eric Drummond’s resignation will take effect on June 30, 1933. He has been Secretary-General of the League since its formation and was mentioned by name in the Versailles Treaty in that connection. He previously had a distinguished career in the British diplomatic service. Some time ago he wished to retiro, but was persuaded to postpone carrying out his intention until next year.
Hon. Sir (James) Eric Drummond, Ji.C.M.G,, lias been Secretary-General to the Leaguo of Nations its formation. He was born in 1876 and is the half brother and heir presumptive of tho fifteenth Earl of Perth. He entered the Foreign Office in 1900, being private secretary to tho Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs 1906-1910. He was precis writer to tho Foreign Secretary in 1908 and 1910-11, one of the Prime Minister’s private secretaries 1912-15 and private secretary to the Foreign Secretary 1915-19.
