BULLS, Sept. 27. Some first-class scores wore registered at the Oliakca rifie shoot on Monday even'.ig, the top eight men putting on 1107. This team is in lino form to meet Bulls in tho final for the northern section, and a keen contest may be looked forward to. Monday's scores were: —F. Simpson, 69 70—139; L. Cricket enthusiasts are preparing for the new season. During the coming week-end the Bulls Club will hold a practice in order to enable tho selectors to pick a team to meet Wanganui Marists, at Bulls, on the following week-end. The Flock House team promises to be a strong one this season. Campbell, Hockey and Ridley are the only players left of last year s side, but there are a number of capable players amongst tho New Zealand boys who have arrived there recently. Mr McDonal, one of the staff, is a good player, and his coaching should .be invaluable. The golf season concludes at the end of tho week and many players will then turn their attention to tennis. Already a number of members of the Tennis Club have commenced practice, and teams will be sent to the opening ceremonies at Levin on October 1, and to Shannon on October 8. A mishap which occurred at the Rangi"ikei factory on Monday niight have proved more serious than it did, for a pump in the refrigerating department came apart, and narrowly missed one of the employees. The staff worked for the greater part of the night effecting repairs, and everything was in smooth running order the following morning.
