CHARGE OF FALSE PRETENCES
Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 27. In’ the cases in which Norris Blaxall, a manufacturing jeweller, and Luke Stephen Dolan, a ship’s steward, were charged before Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M., with obtaining £29 from gold buyers in Christchurch by false pretences, accused, who elected to be tried by jury, were both committed for trial. Counsel asked that bail be made light in Dolan’s case.
The Magistrate: Dolan appears to have been wliat is colloquially termed “tlie mug.” I am prepared to show leniency to him in the matter of bail. Dolan was allowed hail £25 and one surety of £25. Blaxall’s bail was fixed at £2OO and one surety of £2OO.
