This is Miss Thompson’s third season and if she maintains her present form she should unnex even higher honours in the future. The friends of Mrs T. Pracey will regret to learn that she is at present an inmate of the Palmerston North Hospital. She was admitted last week in a critical condition and it was found necessary to perform an operation immediately. Thoro is a slight improvement reported in her condition. t Mr A. Lee met with a slight accident while carting sand at tho school this morning, which, might, nevertheless have proved of a serious nature. Ho was tipping a load when one of the sides of the lorry fell down and struck him on the temple, knocking him unconscious. Ho received first aid treatment from Mrs R. J. Marsden, of tho teaching staff, after which ho was able to resume work. W Hussey and J. Preston have nominated for the 100 mile road race between Palmerston North and Wellington, to be held at an early date. FOXTON PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.

Following a meeting of the session and managers of tho Foxton Presbytorian Church on Tuesday evening, a meeting of the congregation was held to discuss the proposed amalgamation of the Foxton and Shannon charges. Rev. G. T. Brown, M.A., Moderator of the charge, presided over a fair attendance. Mr Brown outlined Foxton’s position since it had been reduced from a fully sanctioned chargo to that of a home mission station. Tno Presbytery had discussed the position and had come to the conclusion that it was practically impossible for Foxton to carry on alone, and had recommended to tho Homo Mission Committeo that Foxton and Shannon be merged into one charge until such time as the district could be again raised to a fully sanctioned charge. A further meeting of the Presbytery and delegates from tho two charges was hold at which tho superintendent of tho Home Mission Committee was in attendance, when the recommendation of a special committee set up to report on the matter, and which approved of the merger, was unanimously adopted. Mr J. K. Hornblow said that in the steps proposed tho congregation been given an opportunity to express IT.eir views. He stated that they had nothing but the kindliest feelings towards Shannon, but it appeared that tho matter had been taken out of their hands. ■ Foxton had ben over-generous in respect to the payment of stipends without any financial assistance from the Home Mission Committee, which had resulted in their inability to meet other liabilities. They did not ask to be relieved of these liabilities but suggestions had been made that if allowed to carry on under certain conditions say, for a period of six months, the financial position would improve, which would enable them to approach the merger without the fear of increasing their liabilities. Ho stated that the congregation had not given a mandate to any delegates for or against a merger. Mr Barron outlined Foxton’s financial position and moved that Presbytery bo requested to postpone tho amalgamation for a period of six months, and that Foxton be allowed to find its own supply in the meantime. The motion was seconded by Mr Jas. Ross and after further discufcdon and explanations, was carried unanimously.. The recommendation will be submitted to Presbytery at its meeting on Tuesday. In the meantime certain delegates were appointed to confer with Shannon at a meeting to bo held thore on Tuesday evening next.
