UNEMPLOYED MEETING

An overflow meeting was held in the Workers’ Hall to protest against the introduction of the new rates of pay as applied to urban areas. They bad decided to take strike action if the new scheme wore put into etlec-t. j the voting being 72 for and 8 against a strike. A general discussion then ensued and several speakers were beard for and against the resolution to strike passed at" a previous meeting. The question was then put and the result was an overwhelming decision in favour of tbe new rates of pay being rejected, strike action to take place h they were enforced. Seven votes were recorded against the motion. A strike committee was then set up and the meeting adjourned.
