LAND DRAINAGE.
The monthly meeting ofthe Sluggish River Drainage Board was held yesterday, Mr F. J. Foster presiding. Also present were Messrs Ryan, Print, Morcom and Lancaster. The overseer, Mr W. Locke, reported that since the last meeting ho had to shift the workmen out of laikorea Drain owing to wuter. A start had been mado on Cooper and Greenaway’s Drain and up to the present ono mile had been completed. two days’ work had been done in No. i Drain and part of a day in Iso. 2 drain taking out slips since the recent Hood. He had inspected -the floodgates when the Main Drain was in ilood. The double gate at Mr baunders’s farm was leaking through a crack in the concrete wall and the next gato was leaking around the wall. The other one seemed to be satistactorv. A start would bo made with the' deepening of the Tokomaru Drain to-day.—Adopted. Routine business was transacted by the board.
