fljp were decided at the Manawatu Ladies’ ‘ ! .Golf Club tournament this morning. MS The course was in good order, but a |s; cold and strong south-easterly wind wfe swept across the links. It either slowv;, ed the balls right up, or carried them 1 through the greens. Nevertheless, the i',; two championship semi-finals were ■i marked by good scoring on the part of the winners on the outward jour- !«.. ney. Although not pressed. The New Zealand lady champion, Miss Gaisford, played her usual consist- ;; ent game to score an easy win over her P less experienced opponent, Alisa Alcm. Kenzie. Miss Gaisford was driving « well and Teaching the green ahead of » Miss AlcKenzie, though with the wind behind her, she was pulling her shots slightly. She showed great steadiness under difficult conditions and was getU ting the right strength for her strokes. ;v.' The game ended at the 11th with Miss p- Gaisford 9up and 7to play. She took 41 on the outward journed, her card | reading: 4—4—G—4—6—4—6—3—4. i| Y Winning the 7th after being tlirough the green and taking three putts, Miss Gaisford led 5 up, Miss McKenzie just »§ lipping the hole for a half with a “ten- ;; footer.” At the Bth Alias Gaisford chipped over the bunker at the left of M the green to within 18 inches of the ml; pin and won the hole 3—4 to lead 6 sfej’ up. Going to Kden, Miss McKenzie landed her tee shot in the front bunker ■ijV' and required two to get out. Miss ' Gaicford was in the left wing bunker |jy. and chipped out too strongly, but laid p: her opponent a dead stymie to lead 7 K|’ up at the turn. Miss AlcKenzie duffed her second into an awkward lie iff,' at the 10th, where Miss Gaisford was on the green in two and won the hole n to lead 8 up. She outdrove her opponent at the 11th and was on the green in two with a pitch and run shot. Miss fc McKenzie almost laid her a stymie, but she sank a short putt to win the hole and the match 9 and 7. fe AIRS COLLINSON’S GOOD GOLF.

Playing splendid golf, Mrs Collinson went out in 39 in her match against Aliss Guy, who took 43, her putting being a little weak at times. Airs Collinson’s card for the first nine holes read : 445366533—39. Aliss Guy’s read : 655366633—43. At the turn for home Airs Collinson led 3 up, but she struck trouble approaching the 10th, and her lead was reduced to 2 up. She won Land’s End, halved Lagoon Hill, lost the 13th, halved the 14th, and won the 15th to make the game dormy three. There were unusual features in the play at the 16th, where the match ended. Airs Collinson sliced her tee shot into tho fairway bunker, and the ball landed in a bad lie under the lip, but was exploded out. With her third Airs Collinson was again bunkered to the right of the green, and appeared certain to lose the hole. However, Aliss Guy was still short of the green with her second, and played a very weak mashie with her third. Another mashie put the ball right through the green, Airs Collinson chipped out nicely, the ball dropping dead six feet from the pin. They halved the hole for six and Airs Collinson won 3 up and 2 to play.
