Detective W. Fell lias been transferred from AA'ellington to Samoa, where he will take up duties as subinspector of police.
Air Justice Ostler will arrive in Palmerston North on October 10 to deal with matters which are pending under the Alortgagors Relief Act.
A notice in yesterday’s Gazette states that Messrs James Begg and T. A. Duncan have been reappointed by the Government for two years as the producers’ representatives on the Meat Board.
A cablegram from Sydney reports the death at the age of 84 years of Rev. Dr Janies Carruthers, who had been a distinguished member of tho Methodist Church in Australia for more than 50 years.
At the annual meeting of the National Daffodil Society, at Hamilton. Alessrs J. G. AA'eightman (Feilding) and A. Gibson (Alarton) wero elected vicepresidents and Alessrs A. AA'. Broadway (Otaki) and Gibson wero appointed to the committee.
A Press Association, telegram from Levin announces the death of Mrs Margaret White, relict of the late Rev. Joseph White, aged SO years. Her husband, who was a well-known Presbyterian minister, was stationed at Westport, Waipawa, Christchurch, Kelso, Cromwell, Dunedin, Pleasant Point and lastly at Levin in 190 S, where lie was the first fully ordained minister of that charge. He retired after 18 months and died in 1919. There are two surviving sons, Mr Len White, of the Public Service, Shannon, and Mr Jess White, musician, of Levin. There are several grand-children and great-grandchildren.
