END-OF-SEASON DANCE,

Last night the association held its annual wind-up of the season dance at which the trophies won during the season were presented to the various clubs by Mr J. G, Eliott, who referred to the high standard of play seen in Feilding during the hockey season and congratulated the winning teams on their success. Tlie dance was very enjoyable, quite a good representation of visitors being present.

PHOTOGRAPHS OF FEILDING

At the Oroua County Council meeting yesterday, the chairman (Cr. Campbell) announced that Mr B. Halcombe, a son of the late Mr W. A. S. Halcombe, whose associations with the early settlement of Feilding were well known, had handed over to the county a photograph of Iris father, together with a portrait of General Feilding and a number of views of early Feilding. Cr. Campbell felt sure the gifts would lie greatly treasured by the council in view of their connection with the original settlement of the Manchester block.

A motion recording the council's appreciation and thanks to Mr Halcombe was carried, and this will be conveyed to the donor in an appropriate letter.

FRIENDLY SOCIETIES

Bro. A. G. Fidlor presided at a meeting of the Feilding Friendly Societies’ Council, this week, when it was announced that- tho aggregate prizewinners in connection with the card tournament were as under: —Kowhai Bebekah, Sister Wilson; Manchester Unity, Bro. Shepperd; Foresters. Bro. K. Worsfold; Druids, Sister E. Worsfold. It was decided that a concluding tournament be held at the end of September. Various minor matters were dealt with, and the meeting closed with votes of thanks to Bro. Garlick for the use of the rooms for meetings, and to the chairman.
