STEPS TAKEN IN ITALY
LONDON. Sept. 14. The Morning Post’s Rome correspondent says that statistically the most successful among the big nations in diminishing unemployment is Italy, which is preparing to keep down the number, now under the million mark, during tho coining winter. Orders have been given to mayors to provide all tho extra work possible.
Groat motor roads are being constructed from Genoa, where new works are in progress, making it the bestequipped port in the Mediterranean, and the centre for trans-Atlantic traffic to North and South America. ATenice, Florence, Naples, Milan and other important towns are providing employment for thousands of men. In Rome at present 6000 men are engaged ill street improvement works.
