LADIES’ GOLF TOURNEY.

FOUR-BALL COMPETITION

LARGE FIELD PARTICIPATE

Tho Manawatu Ladies’ Golf Club open championship tournament was continued yesterday afternoon under ideal conditions, at tho Hokowhitu links. A four-ball best ball competition was played and attracted the exceptionally large field of 88 players, the games being most enjoyable. The best scores were as follow :—Mrs Spoeciiley (13) and Mrs A. E. Ekstcdt (11), 5 up; Mrs Rota (8) and Miss Scott (10), 5 up; Miss E. Bell (S) and Miss S. Watson (4), 4 up; Mrs Raven (14) and Mrs Buxton (23), 4 up; Miss N. Grace (10) and Miss C. Wilson (8), 3 up; Mrs A. McKegg (20) and Miss K. Nash (19), 3 up; Miss Perrett (19) and Miss Riddell (14), 3 up; Mrs J. W. Rutherfurd (23) and Miss Wason (14), 2 up. A play-off will bo necessary to decide first place. MEDAL HANDICAP.

Witli a net score of 74, Mrs Rota (Hawera) led the first division players in the medal handicap, and with a net 70 Mrs H. R. Whitehead (Manawatu) won the second division. Tho best cards returned were as follow: —Mrs Rota, 85—11—74; Mrs Speecliley, 94 —17—77: Miss Gaisford, 78—ser—78; Miss C. Wilson, 89—11—78; Mrs A. McKegg, 105—27—78; Miss M. Guy, 88— 9— 79; Miss M. Sim, 100—21—79.
