THE WEATHER

GENERAL FORECAST.

The anti-cyclone over New Zealand has moved very slowly, and its centre is now off the East Coast of the North Island. Conditions have continued to be disturbed over the northern Tasman Sea, where a depression has been located for the past few days. Northeasterly to northerly winds, moderate but freshening generally and reaching gale force in the far north. Seas rough north of East Cape and off-shore north of Cape Egmont; elsewhere moderate in New Zealand waters. Aioderate to strong north-east winds in the eastern Tasman Sea a.nd rough seas. Weather fair to fino at first in most districts, but unsettled in the far north, with rain in places. Cloud and mist increasing generally, and later rain developing in western districts, and gradually extending to other parts. Alild temperatures.

The Government meteorologist telegraphed to-day : —The indications are for nortlierlv winds, moderate to strong. There is a prospect of fair weather. Expect mild and hazy conditions, but later scattered showers. Rain is probable. The barometer has a falling tendency. .
