NOTABLE VISITORS ENTERTAINED.

The Press Association’s representative cables that Rarotonga was en fete on Monday when the chiefs joined with the Resident Commissioner, Mr H. F. Ayson, in welcoming Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates and the Now Zealand and Australian delegations to Ottawa, as well as the New Zealand Olympic team and the Australian cricketers. Luncheon was served in the grounds of the royal palace to the accompaniment of native girls singing and da.neing. A huge crowd adjourned to the sports ground. . Fleetwood Smith, the cricketer, showed how to spin the ball and then bowled to Bradman, who received an ovation on hitting several boundaries. ,Mr Coates kicked off in a football match between the Olympic team and burly, barefooted natives. The New Zealanders won by 9 points to 5. Mr Gullett, the Australian Minister of Customs, owing to Ins sister s death, remained aboard.

WELLINGTON PREPARES WELCOME.

VESSEL DUE ON SUNDAY

Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Sept. 13. News has been received that the liner Monowai left Raratonga on Monday and is now due in Wellington oil Sunday morning. The Harbour Board will provide facilities in one of its sheds for those interested in tho various arrivals which will include tho Ottawa delegations and the sports teams.
