PAHIATUA, Aug. 27. Mrs Purdie is returning to-day from a week 6pent with her father at Kumeroa. Miss H. Miller (on transfer) has been appointed teacher at Marima school. Miss L. Junker, Nelson, has been the guest this week of her sister, Miss D. Junker. Mr John Kedmond, of Konini, is an inmato of a private hospitul. In tho recent Trinity College theory examination held at the Convent the following candidates wore successful: Intermediate division: Aline Kahu 81 (honours), Julia Colder 77, Bertlpy Biggar 73, Mony Baron 72, Hillary Horrax 68, Yvonno Wills 68. Junior division: Audrey Parker 89 (honours), David Wolland 72. Preparatory division: Joan Stevens 81 (honours). The action of the Central Committee in disclaiming all responsibility for fees incurred by Wairarapa residents entering the Danncvirkc Hospital was endorsed at yesterday’s meeting of tho Wairarapa Hospital Board. An account for £2ll 10s lid was received from the Dunnovirkc Board. The Wairarapa Board had previously decided to repudiate any liability for fees incurred _ by patients entering the Dannevirlte Hospital when they could just as easily go to I’ahiatua or Pongaroa. The Marima Co-operative Dairy Co., Ltd., held its annual meeting in the factory building yesterday morning. The chairman of directors, Mr R. A. Sievors, presided. The annual report stated: “Tho bulk of the cheese manufactured has been shipped Homo on open consignment, and tho prices obtained, although not subjected to the extremely low limits of the previous season, have again been unremunerative to producers. A certain quantity lias again been placed on tho local market and this lias been helpful. A further payment of id per lb on butterfat supplied has been made in July, and tho directors propose to supplement this by tho distribution of an additional Id per lb at tho conclusion of the annual meeting.” Mr Sievers, in moving the adoption of tho annual report and bal-ance-sheet, said the company had exported on consignment practically all its output. A portion onlv had been sold for local trade. About 78 per cent, of the output went to England on consignment and 22 per cent, was sold locally. Ho stressed the importance of developing the local trade. Through selling in this channel 22 per cent, last season it returned over tho whole output Id more than would have been the caso had all gone home on consignment. The manager deserved every praise for the quality article ho turned out. The cheese he "made for local consumption had found great favour and was increasingly in demand. The retiring directors, Messrs L. 11. Hughes and Sievers, were re-elected unopposed. Mr L. D. Lovelock was appointed

auditor. In giving thanks for his return, Mr Hughes paid a tribute to the worth of the manager, Mr Morgan. Ho quoted figures covering a period of several years which showed a steady all-round improvement in factory operations to date. And whereas there were two assistants in the past Mr Morgan had managed with only one. At the subsequent meeting of directors Mr Sievers was re-elected chairman.
