SENIOR LEAGUE TABLE. Goals

St. Andrew’s made the pace in the early stages, with Pitkethloy in tho van, hut the City defence was sound. Play remained in City’s area for a long period, with only a few breaks, tile Saints and City both combining nicely. Play deteriorated, however, so far as the Saints were concerned, and City held the advantage for a long time. Half an hour from the start the Saints forced the issue, however, and Lyons beat Graham with a long shot. City dominated play from a re-com-mencemcnt and were unfortunate in failing to score when Cnrncll heat the backs and sent in a hard shot which topped the net. Another shot of his was well saved by Coombs and Holland, but just as the spell ended he succeeded after tho Saints had faced a barrage for a period. The Saints had tho assistance of the wind after the change-over, but failed to keep City in subjection for any length of time and rapidly dropped back to defend. Gradually the blues got away, however, and were awarded a penalty from which Coombs scored to gain tho load. Play took on a brighter aspect and there was a series of brisk interchanges. City were the more active, however, and forced a corner, though without success, and eventually Kempson equalised with a neat header.

St. Andrew’s forced tho issue and were awarded a penalty, Coombs again took the shot and goaled splendidly. Encouraged by their success, the blues made tho pace and troubled the City backs. There was n scramble and AlcSbeffrcy headed in with a line shot. City held the balance of play until Coombs and Oman cleared their area with good shots. City came back, however, and a penalty taken by Goodjolin improved their position. Time sounded after further give and take tactics. Air Boles refereed.
