NOVELTY SOCIAL.
A successful dance and social evening was held in the Longburn Hall by the Black Diamond Band, when there was an attendance of over 200. Visitors were present from Marten, AA’oodville, Levin and AA’ellington. The prizes for the non-dancers were won by Mrs Burns; Mrs Bambridge, consolation; and Mr A. Sanson; Mr Ross, consolation. The programme presented comprised instrumental items by ’“The Levin Boys”; a tap dance, Miss G. MacnaUghtan; songs, Mr S. Heremaia, Mr R. Roach, Miss H. Tatana; duet, Miss R. Birch, and Mr Birch. The twilight spot waltz was won by Miss L. Campbell and Mr A. A\ T iniata, and the Monte Carlo by Miss H. Tatana and Mr R. AViniata. Extras were played by Messrs M. Winiata and G. Large and Misses U. Chamberlain and H. Tntana. The M.C. was Mr R. Cooksley and Mr P. Meehan was in charge of the card room. Mr R. Nicholson, on behalf of the band, returned thanks to the large number present for their attendance and extended special appreciation to the Longburn Ladies’ Club for providing supper and the Levin Maori Party for their assistance.
