GOOD MANAGEMENT.
HIGH SCHOOLS FINANCE. In commenting upon the balanceshoet at last night’s annual meeting of the Board of Governors of the High Schools, Mr J. IV. Rutherfurd pointed out that the board handled £25,000 an. nually, exclusive of the hostels, yet the administrative expenses entailed an outlay of only £462 14s, or under 2 per cent, of the total amount involved. Accusations had on occasion been levelled at the board, stated the speaker, and he, perhaps, could not be blamed for pointing out that the case was very much the reverse of these accusations, for the board operated most economically. Mr IV. F. Durward added that the Education Department fully realised that the Palmerston North Board was one of the most economically conducted in the Dominion.
