(From Our Own Correspondent.) SHANNON, June 24
The players to meet in the second round of the June golf handicap are: Colo v. Moody; Bovis v. Goodwin; Taylor v. Kawlinson or Thurston; Stevenson v. Mabey; Blackwood v. G. Smith; McLean v. Mark; Collins v. White; Kennedy a bye. About twenty local R.S.A. men journeyed to Levin on Wednesday evening to attend the Levin R.S.A. reunion. The first batch of 10 men for the unemployed camp, which is located near the Poplar Mill, Moutoa, arrived on Wednesday and further batches are expected at intervals during the next few weeks. In connection with the small farm scheme it is understood the tenders have been let for tho erection of two houses close to Shannon. Mrs J. A. Roach, who has been on holiday for the past two months, returned home on Saturday much improved in health. Mr F. Peach is an inmate of the Palmerston North Hospital undergoing treatment. Miss M. Baxter, who has been suffering from an attack of pleurisy for somo weeks past, is now making satisfactory progress. Miss Freda Thompson was the winner of the trophy at the Croquet Club’s euchre party on Tuesday afternoon.
