CHANGE IN POLITICS. INFLUENCE OF FI ANN A FALL. MR W. T. COSGRAVE’S STATEMENT. (United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.)
(Times Cable). Received May 19, 8.40 a.m. LONDON, May 18. The Dublin correspondent of the Times states that Mr W. T. Cosgrave, addressing the annual convention of the Cumunna Ngaedheal Party, said: “Looking over the history of the past ten years one cannot fail to discern a sinister influence behind the attempts of the Fianna Fail to gain office. There has been a conspiracy against ordered administration, democratic institutions and national economy. Tile Cumanna Ngaedheal Party stands not for every line and comma of the Treaty, but for such alterations as are agreed to by high contracting parties.’’ Mr Ernest Blythe, former Finance Minister, said that owing to the Oath policy the Free State delegates might well save the price of their tickets to Ottawa. The Fianna Fail tolerated the I.R.A. because it wanted a machine to terrorise the voters at the next election.
