EXPLOSION OP DETONATORS. POLICE INVESTIGATING. SYDNEY, May 18. . Suspicious circumstances are associated with the fire which reached the stock of explosives in Braund and Company’s stores at Armidale. A motor car without lights was seen leaving the scene before the discovery of the fire. Detectives are investigating. The iron store (in which the explosion occurred) was detached from the main store premises, which were gutted by fire only three weeks ago, causing damage estimated at £20,000. The windows in every building nearby were smashed and dwellings were rocked. At least 5000 detonators exploded. ANOTHER FIREMAN DEAD. Received May 19, 11 a.m. SYDNEY 7 , May 19. Another fireman —the second—has died as a result of the explosion and fire at Armidale.
