DEVOTIONAL COLUMN

Prayer: We enter into Thy courts, O God, with gladness and thanksgiving. We rejoice to sit under lhy shadow, to partake, of Thy fruit, so sweet to our taste, and that Thy banner over us is love. Because Thy loving kindness is better than life our lips shall praise Thee. Thy right hand upholdeth us at all times, and our souls are satisfied as with marrow and fatness. Like tho Psalmist wo cry: “When my heart is overwhelmed lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” Grant, we beseech Thee, that Thy hand of power and blessing bo with us, and that Thy will be done in us, as it is in heaven, for the glory of Thy great Name. Amen. Scripture: Psalm 71; ltovelation 1. “LOOKING FOR HIS GLORIOUS APPEARING.” (Phil. iii. 20.) Then shall wo worship Thee with joy and singing, And laud Tliy Name all other names above; The world throughout the praises shall bo ringing, And we shall swell the triumphs of Thy love. Come, blessed Jesus, come, we pray; Banish the darkness and bring the glorious day. WHEN THE BAND PLAYED. Dr. J. D. Jones says: “When I was in Venice a short time ago, the British National Anthem was played on two or three evenings in the courso of dinner. I noticed how, in that crowded dining-room, every Englishman and every Englishwoman stood up when that anthem was being played; and they did it proudly, too, as if to say: ‘We belong to dear old England!’ Let us be just as proud of King Jesus. Let us do what he would have us do; let us go where he would have us go ; let us serve him, as he would have us serve.” “FOLLOW THOU ME.” Lord . . . and what shall this man do? Jesus saitli . . . What is that to thee? Follow thou Me.—St. John 21; 21-22. Follow—not go ahead at thine own pleasure, Nor turn aside at thine own way-

ward will, Nor stray afar in search of other

treasure, But close at hand, where I can,aid thee still; Across the sea and through the desert places, Onward and upward by the one sure

way, Till thou shalt sit with Me in heavenly places Amid the splendours of eternal day.
