LINTON.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) LINTON, April 20. The monthly meeting of tho Women’s Institute was held on Wednesday afternoon, Mrs J. L. Nash presiding over a large attendance. A very enjoyable entertainment was provided by mombors of the Mako Mako Women’s Institute (Pahiatua) among whom wore Mrs Eising (president), Miss Sowry, Miss Day, Miss Sargent and Miss Groves. A ono act play, “The Rost Cure,” was given by these ladios and this amusing little play was greatly appreciated, as also wore tho elocutionary items by Miss Sargent and tho vocal items by Miss Sowry. Mrs Eising also gave a very interesting demonstration on drying fruit. Mrs Nash, on bohalf of the Linton W. 1., thanked tho visitors for coming such a long way and providing such an enjoyable entertainment. The institute decided to group with Shannon, Foxton, Levin and Tokomaru, making Shannon tho centre. It was also resolved that Mrs Nash and Mrs J. Lynch bo tho delegates to the half-yearly council meeting to bo hold in Palmerston North on Friday, Mrs J. Lynch was appointed secretary on the resignation of Mrs David Currin, tho recently elected secretary. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs D. Currin and Miss Bertha Currin. Tho meeting was concluded by tho singing of the National Anthem. Mrs Borncy, who has been the guest of Mrs Beale, has returned to the Wairarapa. Tho opening of tho Linton Ping Pong Club was- held last week. A handicap doublos tournament was won by Master Harold Aldrich.
