BONES OF A WHALE.
OVER TAVO AIILLION YEARS OLD. AUCKLAND, April 5. Bones observed protruding from a limestone cliff on the farm of Air AV. SE. Phillips at Rau Ran, near Te Alata, Raglan, were examined by Professor J. A. Bartrum, Professor of Geology at Auckland University College, who expressed the opinion that they belonged to an extinct whale of probably more than 2,500,000 years ago. The hones, three in number and as thick as a human wrist, were found about 15 feet below the summit of the cliff.
Professor Bartrum removed portion of one. which he considered to he tire upper part of a rib. and will probably send it to the British Alusoum for further examination.
