LINTON, March 10. The annual meeting of tho local branch fo the Women’s Institute was held on Wednesday afternoon. Mrs J. L. . Nash was re-elected president, the appointment being the result of a unanimous vote, and Mrs T. Lynch vice-president. Tho following ladies were elected a committee: —Mrs David Currin (secretary), Mrs T. Lynch (treasurer), Mrs A. Currin, Mrs Harrison, Mr 3L. Craw, Mrs Ballinger, Mrs J. Lynch, Misses Young and V. Rix. The resignation of Airs J. Lynch, secretary for the past year, was received with regret. A demonstration of rug making from old 6ilk stockings was given by Airs Aloyes and was much appreciated. Afternoon tea was served, tho hostesses being Alesdames D. Currin, L. Craw, C. Terry and Gooch. A roll call was held, tho following giving items: Mrs Wisehnewsky, vocal solo; Mcadames Harrison and Crawford, recitations. It was decided to hold the next meeting, which will be tho first birthday of tho in stitutc, in the evening. A playetto will be held and tho evening will be an open one. Tho monthly meeting of the school committee was held on Alonday evening. There wero present Alcssrs Terry, Collis, Nash and Aldrich, Air Aldrich being elected to tho chair in tho absence of Mr T. Lynch. The headmaster, Air Alurdock, reported the roll number to be 50 and tho average attendance 46.31 for tho past month. The inspector, A 1 Crosby, visited the school last week. It was decided to plough, level and resow the part of tho playground which is used for basketball. Mr and Airs Frost, of Wellington, are the guests of Mrs J. L. Nash.
