EVENTS AT LEVIN. The electric light sports meeting held, on the Levin Park Domain under the auspices of the Port Nicholson Amateur Cycling Club saw large fields engaged, with consequent keen competition. A Palmerston North’ rider, E. Lawrence, made a fine showing, winning two important eventu from scratch: the one mile Manawatu Handicap, in which there were 18 starter*, and the five mile open, with 33 starters. Following are the results: — One Lap Open Handicap.—First heat: N. Barrie (70yds) 1. L. Haft (20yds) 2, Six starters. Time, 36secs. Second heat: H, A. Rogers (60yds) 1, F. Blackett (30yds) 2. One Mile Manawatu Handicap, (Manawatu Riders Only).—E. Lawrence (scr.) 1, E. Sayers (30yds) 2, P. McLeod (40yds) 3. Eighteen starters. . The scratch man rode a great race, to win by a length. Two lengths separated second and third. Time, 2min. lOsec.

Novelty “Speedway” Race.—B. Wilkinson 1, J. Tantrum 2. One Mile “B” Grade Handicap.—First beat: M. Gardner (110yds), 1, H. Rogers (BQyds) 2, R. Lawrence 100yds) 3. Twelve starters. Won by a tyre; some between second and third. Time, 2min. Msec. P. Grant fell and had the misfortune to break an arm and suffer gravel rashes. Second heat: A. Mutch (50yds) 1, A. Astin (70yds) 2, C. Garrett (120yds) 3. Thirteen starters. Won on the post. Inches separated second and third. Time, 2min. 12 3-sscc. Final: R. Lawrence 1, M Gardner 2, A. Mutch 3. Won by a length; two lengths between second and third. Time, 2min. 16 3-sseo.

Five Mile Open Handicap.—E. Lawrence (scr.) 1, R. Ulmer (scr.) 2, G. Staveley (300 yds) 3. This event, although the race of the evening, woe marred somewhat by the number of riders crashing. .G. Mudgway eubstainod nasty head injuries, necessitating medical attention. After a good start the field, consisting of 33 riders, began to spread out and ride in bunches. The two scratch men caught their front markers after three laps and were with the field with two laps to go. After the bell had sounded, Ulmer sprinted but Lawrence caught him at the turn, finishing strongly to win by two lengths. Three lengths between second and third. PROFESSIONAL CYCLING. The weekly meeting of the Counties’ Cash Club was held at the Sporteground last evening. Results were as follow: One mile,—A. JefEries (40yds) 1, A. ,Ganderton (60yds) 2, J.-Hill (—) 3.
